1998 Schwinn Caliente and the hunt for decent fenders.

So the first road bike I ever had was a 1998 Schwinn Caliente. Ever since I gave it to my little brother (who it was subsequently stolen from) I have wanted it back. Well, I finally found a decent one on Craigslist and have been working to turn it into a commuter. The last piece of the puzzle is now fenders. The problem is finding a decent pair of fenders which will fit a 27 x 1.25 wheel set. I tried this pair from REI link only to have the adjustment bolts go flying at the slightest provocation. I am now on the hunt for a set of fenders specifically made for 27 inch wheels. Anyone know of a good source?

Edited to add this is Pinky's husband unknowingly posting as his wife.

Free ride often gets old rusted beaters (with 27" wheels) that get striped for parts and the rest thrown away. You could ask them to keep an eye out for old fenders and then sand and paint them. Usually rusted stuff gets tossed, but with a little work will look great.

Try Kraynck's

Or thick. They deal with a lot of older comuter bikes and also carry all sorts of stuff from velo orange.

Thanks for the ideas, all. I'll make sure hubby checks--and signs up for his own account :)
