The trail is still closed at American Waterworks, monday through friday. It'll be great when it's open.

Friends of the Riverfront posted a message today on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail mailing list, and it's also now on their web site's status page:

The Trail closure is in place starting June 21, 2010 through October 31, 2011.... the Trail will be closed only during weekdays Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 5:30pm and on Fridays 6:00am to 4:30pm to facilitate construction activities. The Trail will be open and usable weekday evenings and weekend during the project.

So it's now open every evening, not just on weekends, but the finish date has been pushed back again.

It was open yesterday evening but they were assembling a crane and didn't seem particularly happy when I passed. I was heading from Homestead to the South Side, so wasn't really about to turn back.

I turn up Becks Run on my normal ride home. Tonight the flag guy said that Becks was going to be closed completely over the weekend (Aug 27th), then open Monday but only outbound for the next few weeks. I wish they would just close it completely and get it finished sooner- the flag guy said the city won't let them. Then when their done it will need to be closed to repave it. I hope this is all done before bad weather sets in.

Marko - What's the latest on Becks Run? I gave up using it last week when they moved the one lane restriction substantially above where the sidewalk starts.

I was through there last night going outbound with the flow. The construction is way beyond the downhill sidewalk at this point, and it looks like the upstream sidewalk is totally torn up. I think the safest thing is to just avoid this stretch inbound for now. It is still ok going outbound if you are comfortable taking the lane for several blocks - the cars behind me have been very patient so far.

Ugh! I thought they were making pretty good progress with lots of concrete going down. As an aside, I find it interesting that they poured brand new curbs going three feet below grade, but it doesnt look like they are redoing the sidewalks
