Bike Parking at Station Square

So, my employer is moving down-river at the end of the month to the office space at Station Square. I am losing my swanky indoor parking at my current building, and I'm trying to sort out the best place to lock-up at Station Square. My manager has told me that if I can get my bike into the building, I can park it in my cube, but I suspect getting it will be easier said than done.

Does anyone happen to work there, or frequent Station Square and be willing offer a bit of parking beta?

There's a rack or two along the mall building across from hard rock and the fake Italian joint

That rack has always looked really sketchy to me. I'd try real hard to get my bike in the building, then cubicle.

Yeah, apparently the building management told my employer that there are cameras on the bike racks (there's also a rack in the main parking garage), but the racks are not "guarded." Apparently, we have some space on the first floor, near a loading dock (we do in-house hardware provisioning), and if I can get my bike in there, I can take it upstairs via the freight elevator.

Apparently, management also said something about indoor bike lockers (as there are downtown) coming to Station Real Soon Now. Any word on that?

The racks I've seen there are crappy and not actually bolted down to anything. I've locked up there temporarily to grab a bite to eat or run in to a store, but I wouldn't like it as long term parking.

Has anyone ever heard of someone stealing a whole not bolted down rack with bike(s) attached? I think that would take a really motivated thief to accomplish.

I haven't heard of that in Pittsburgh. But the rack I'm thinking of is also shoved into some landscaping rocks/bushes, which makes it hard to reach. Even if they were to bolt it down, there's lots of room for improvement.

there's also a rack under the bridge, where the grand concourse valet guys set up. i don't remember if it was bolted down, but it was pretty much under constant supervision.

actually, there was an incident where an entire rack was stolen, but this was back in the early 90's, some guys drove a truck over the lawn @ one of the schools, backed up to the rack, lifted it onto the truck, & drove off.

They got like 9 bikes.

But this was during a time of more rampant & brazen bike thievery.

Top.

Apparently none of the racks around these parts are bolted to the ground. I'm currently taking my chances with the rack under the walkway, across from the valet entrance to the Grand Concourse.

I rode by the spot where they are putting the new soccer field. They had two large bike racks set up. I didn't slow down to see if they were bolted down. Definitely not under cover at this point and would be a bit of a walk back to where I believe the offices to be so maybe not useful...except to soccer fans.

yeha, those new racks are insane.

they have lockability for around 30-45 bikes near that new feildadium-thingy.

There is a "wave" style rack under some cover at the western end of the building.

On opening day for the Fieldadium I'd like to see those suckers filled, just on principle.

That wave rack has migrated a bit further to the east, and closer to the road.

I am truly amazed at how poor the facilities for bikes are at this place.

Some nice person likes to move the toaster rack on the Mon side of the City-County building. It, too, is not tied down, and I'm amazed how easy it is to move with six bikes tied to it, even by scrawny lil'old me.

there's a pair of bike racks that've been dropped in the minipark on Fifth Ave btwn Oakland & Bouquet, across from Pitt's Public Health building (where I assume they came from). They don't even look like they might be secured, but i've seen half a dozen bikes on each one at a time...
