bike theft

My bike was stolen from the Produce Market opposite Home Depot on first Saturday in January. It is a black Raleigh with an odometer with about 3200 miles on it. I left it out front for a couple of minutes and it was gone when I came back. I think I noticed a couple of teenagers walking by when I left it there, maybe they noticed I was not locking it. Anyway it was a nice bike. Moral of story I guess is always lock your bike. I just hate lugging the lock everywhere.

get a backpack, or messenger bag. get a smaller lock, even a cable lock is better than no lock for a quick trip to the market. i have sympathy for your loss, really. but if you find your bike (not too likely), or get a new one ALWAYS LOCK IT UP!!!

i saw a bike that looked like this the other day near the intersection of east liberty blvd and n beatty. it was just laying there on the curb. to whoever said to get a cable lock - save your money if you are that cheap. it won't do anything if someone wants your nice bike. you can cut through almost any cable with a 20 dollar set of hand-sized cutters excepting if the cable was once used to suspend a bridge with.

Cabl;e locks suck, that's the truth.

But they are WAY better than nothing at all

A cable could keep someone from taking your bike on impulse for a joy ride and leaving it like trash on a corner.
