Casting call: African-American Male Cyclist 60-75

We are casting a commercial that needs a bicycle rider.
We need an African American Male 60-75 who is an accomplished bicycle rider (In other words, he can ride with confidence) to appear in the commercial.
The pay is $500.00 for probably a half-day on Sept. 11th or 12th.

Having worked with Mosser in the past, I have to say that working as a movie extra is some of the most boring and yet fascinating work there is.

Maybe you should pay more attention to "all the race stuff going on these days" if you think suggesting you might put on blackface to land an acting job is even remotely acceptable.

The Ted Danson example is telling. It's not complicated. It occurred in an entirely different era, when American society still had aspirations of progress toward equality. Call it post 9/11, post Bush, whatever you want to label it with. We have regressed in 20 years. Gays have made progress because apparently they are the only ones who refuse to be cowed.

Look, showing up at a casting call in makeup and expecting to be taken for a different race is absurd. It just would not work. @gg must know that. The only question is whether he made the comment in ignorance of its racist implications, or feigning ignorance to cover a racist attitude. I don't know the answer to that and I'd caution anyone from coming to a conclusion based on interactions on a message board.
In any case, gg has been educated. So let's let the thing drop. We don't need to be parsing the use of blackface in performance indefinitely.
