CMU detour off Neville is closed

New road closure alert (or at least new to me): the detour through CMU off North Neville is closed toward the top due to construction. Can't even slip through on the sidewalk. I was trying to get to Squirrel Hill--I usually go up through CMU and then the golf course, but ended up going up Beeler and then Wilkins (and I hate riding on Wilkins). Anyway, I searched for this and didn't see anything, so I thought I'd share.

There's a new building going up. Currently they're rerouting utility lines. But that road will then be closed for a while. One alternative is the following: when you get up that first hill on campus (that goes underneath a building), keep going straight, towards the "Cut". You will see a pedestrian path. Follow it (it kind of winds). This will get you (eventually) to where you can make it to the main campus. At this point you can cross over to Frew, one way or another. (if you're ok with dodging students). Or consider going up the hill on Forbes; there's enough of a buffer between you and the traffic.

Looking at the campus map (small version) (larger version), I know there to be a wiggly path and staircase connecting P9 and P19. Can you get to P19 from Neville?

Nope, there's a ridable path all the way (but, again, it's twisty). It ducks under the Gates building and emerges near P11. P9 is an inside garage. Once at P11(ish) you need to get to Forbes then proceed up the driveway to P18 and the main campus. Or just continue up Forbes then up Margaret Morrison to Schenley Drive, or just continue up Forbes. While we're on that area: They *really* need to put down sharrows on the curb lanes next to CMU.

I tried getting on an elevator at the base of the building where it is close once- had to wind my way through the building once I got off on a floor that seemed to be at the right level. Would have been easier to go around. I just wish they put the signs that it is closed down closer to Boundary Street.
