There are a couple old threads I could dig up for details, but here's how I'd do it. (FWIW, I live 12 miles from Cranberry, 10 from downtown.) Catch an outbound O12 McKnight Flyer bus from downtown to the terminus at Rave (formerly Showcase) Cinema in McCandless. Choice #1 is to head back south a bit, pick up McCandless Drive to the end, R Grubbs, L East Ingomar, L Kummer, get on bike trail in North Park (shows on Google as Lake Shore Drive), L Pearce Mill, L Graham, then you're on your own for whatever your specific destination is. Choice #2 is to head north out of the cinema, R McKnight for a couple hundred yards, wiggle R L onto Old Perry Highway, then when you get to the top of the hill, continue straight out Perry Highway. I would definitely not use the main Perry Hwy hill which starts as a ramp from McKnight. I do not know of a path from the cinema to the parallel road that allows you to avoid McKnight, but it might be worth an exploratory trip on a weekend.

Neville Island, Coraopolis 51 North, Sewickley Bridge, Beaver St in Sewickley to Ambridge border. Red belt to the SouthEnd of the Thorn Hill industrial park. As it happens I was curious for the answer to this question for other reasons and was checking out the heatmap feature of Strava to see who had biked where. http://labs.strava.com/heatmap/ shows some possibilities which I guess I need to scout, and have some fun with Google Streetview and the Strava route drawing thing.

I biked to Zelienople once. The Google Bike route was helpful.

I also remember once biking up to Zelionople (many, many years ago). I have no idea how I got there (Evans city somehow rings a bell). But I very vividly remember the ride back. There was a tornado warning that day. And on the way back these creepy yellow-black clouds started coming up behind me, kind of fast. My pace got faster. I'm here to post about it, so I guess all went well. [indulge me on this... Back then all I had was a AAA map of Pittsburgh, and on the reverse side a map of the environs. On weekends I would look at the latter and pick some place that seemed interesting and just go. Does AAA still do maps? Haven't consulted a printed paper map for what seems like a decade or more. ]
