Connecting Pocusset and Schenley Drive

One of the challenges with biking in Pittsburgh is that we now have all of these bike paths and lanes now, which is great, but they don't always connect. One I'd like to see is connecting the Pocusset Road bike path to Schenley Drive Protected Lanes. From Oakland this is works. However, heading from Squirrel Hill the ideal route would be to go through Schenley Oval and down the hill, but it is one way. The road is well paved, wide enough, and you can take the path past the pool and through Anderson playground to make the connection. Has anybody thought of doing this? How does something like this gets proposed to the city?

This maybe doesn't quite answer the question, but you can get from Pocusset St to the Schenley Dr lanes as follows: 1. Go up Pocusset Dr Trail, then R on Prospect Dr and on to Hobart St 2. Turn L and down to Greenfield Rd (I believe you can take the sidewalk if the cars are acting snarly). 3. R on Greenfield Rd and then L onto Serpentine Dr 4. L at the top onto Circuit Rd, down to Schenley Dr 5. L on Schenley Dr and onto the lanes at the next intersection 3-4 are pretty low traffic in general. 2 can be trafficy, especially at rush hour. 5 is ok. Your other option, at (3), is to cross the street and get on the Bridle Trail. But it's pretty broken up; you'd maybe want an MTB-ish bike for it. There's also trails on the far side of the Oval that will take you down the hill but you'd still need to do some of Overlook.

I've always assumed that after the Greenfield Bridge is rebuilt they will be doing exactly this. So we would have a complete network from Pocusset St to CMU, and across the bridge to some point in Greenfield.

Ahlir, that's essentially the alternate route that I came up with too and I agree the Bridle Trail is not worth trying to ride through. Though for now I'll just stick to the Wightman, Darlington, Schenley Drive route. I'd imagine we'll get some changes with the Greenfield Bridge project since it will have bike lanes, but that will be a long wait.
