Connecting South Oakland to the Eliza Furnace Trail

I found this site detailing more connections between the Eliza Furnace Trail and Oakland. http://rockalley.org/routes/bike-routes/ I already looked at the Brady St. option and liked it. Could this be lobbied into consideration as well as a way to fix the Parkway off ramp speed problem perhaps with rumble strips, a painted crosswalk, and a stop sign?

the website looks like it was last updated in 2012, so I'm guessing that whatever they are proposing, if you haven't heard about it since then, it isn't going to happen.

Why would you take it offline? Just because they haven't been implmented, doesn't mean it's not good to keep them out there. It's a bunch of good proposals for projects. The trick is actually getting elected officials and / or city planners to implement them (and find funding for them). I know some of that space in the Brady street proposal could be repurposed during the Port Authority's BRT project.

In 2009, I worked at Ansaldo, essentially across the street from there, and was already contributing to this message board on a regular basis. There were other posts in the 2009-2012 timeframe discussig the pros and cons of various ways down the hill. You found one of the pists. Hunch, the movers and shakers on that proposal have either moved away or moved on. Yes, there are several ways to do it, some better than others, some issues more legal than technical.

That website's About page has an email address and phone number to contact. You could try to contact them and ask if there are any developments. Or contact the Oakland Planning and Development Corporation, which apparently was involved in the group behind that website, and ask them. They have an active Facebook page and are definitely still around. My guess is OPDC has a very long list of things they'd like to do (someday), and those bike routes are somewhere far down the priority list.

As a former resident of Uptown and a current HackPGH member, I am really sick of riding up and down Brady St and through a gravel pit to get on the Eliza Furnace trail.  I've been staring at the East side of Brady St and thinking there was enough space in there for a separated bike path all the way to the trail down there.  Lo and behold, I searched Brady St on this message board and someone else documented the entire thing along with great recommendations in 2012 (!) This honestly seems like a huge bang for the buck in terms of covering a big gap in access to the trail network at the cost of essentially paving a sidewalk.  Not sure what can realistically be done to the 376 off ramp other than making an official pedestrian crossing and adding rumble strips, but the other parts can be made significantly better IMO. @zzwergel that video is completely insane.  It's ironic that Oakland is the most dangerous neighborhood to ride a bike considering how many carless college students live there.  Unfortunately since that little Lawn st nub doesn't connect to anywhere safe to ride a bike, I just end up riding up the sidewalk from the top of Brady St to Craig or Neville.  Or better yet, don't ride through Oakland at all.  It's a shame, because I'd like to ride my bike to eat in Oakland because parking there sucks too...  I just end up not ever going to Oakland.

Check page 16 of this "State Route 885 / Second Avenue Multimodal Corridor Study."    There is a reference to a trail link to Oakland via Lawn Street and Parkway Tunnel. Elsewhere in the report there are plans for a new bus-only connection from Second Avenue to Forbes Avenue along Brady Street and underneath Birmingham Bridge where you were suggesting a new bike link.  Adding new exclusive transit connections is also a worthwhile goal. There are lots of  ideas throughout the report for bike, roadway and transit improvements along Second Avenue all the way from downtown to the Glenwood Bridge.  Including a new multimodal Bridge over the Mon from Hazelwood Green to somewhere near Becks Run Road.  It will be interesting to see what actually happens.
