Post a tweet each time you cross the bridge and indicate the status of the bridge's debris pile. That way everyone can see how often it gets done. Once a day tweets are probably often enough.
A few days ago I had my umpteenth flat tire on the bridge. So I went to Mayor Whatshisface and asked to have the bike lanes swept before winter rolls around. I'm going to risk a not-your-personal-army rebuttal and ask you guys to do the same. Could you do that for me? Please?
yeah, it was bad this morning. they are supposed to sweep it every week, it's apparently on the schedule. the thing is, it was on the schedule on fridays, which makes so little sense. that means they clean it the day that everyone decides to drive drunk on it throwing bottles everywhere. so basically it's clean for a whole 8 hours a week.
of course, the thing hasn't been cleaned for awhile now.
I received a followup email. They said they're working on it.
I'm not holding my breath, though.
That'd be a good start. I just want to make a public record of what's gotten done and what needs to get done. Then we could all (by "we" I also mean public officials who bother to read it) see that it's been 23 (then 24 then 25) days since glass was reported on such-and-such bridge.
It's a little less formal than SPC's highway safety or trail safety links, just a way of saying "Hey, it's still not done yet!" over and over and over until they clean it.
