Drag Race Party at Free Ride Feb. 9!

On February 9, starting at 7pm, we're going to have a party! We'll pull down some small bikes and some of us have built some stupid things, and we'll ride them, race them even. Navigate obstacles on them. It will be great. Your own silly bikes are welcome to join. We are asking for $10 per person for this event, proceeds will help keep Free Ride running. Come check out and support your favorite local bike collective. Here is a facebook thing for it, in case any of you like that sort of thing: http://www.facebook.com/events/592915914068825/

erok, when I first heard "drag race" I assumed people would dress in drag a d race bikes. I can't say I wasn't at least a little let down to hear that isn't quite the plan.

I came, I raced, I had fun. The "group ride" from Oakland, was me, myself and I. There was indeed, a handsome bearded man in pink tights and a black lacey skirt. There were all manner of peculiar two-wheeled vehicles. "Unsafe at any speed" is an adequate description for most. I never realized before how hard it is to steer a bike with your butt, for example. I won none of the races. This surprised no one.
