Favorite places to ride to watch fireworks?

Where do yinz like to go to watch the fireworks -- especially by bike? I've ridden to the Point from the East End -- easy ride, crowded result. Thinking of trying the West End Overlook or Observatory Hill. The option with the worst hills-to-views ratio is probably Columbia Ave. in Swissvale.

Always check the weather, paying particular attention to the wind direction. You want to be upwind of the fireworks. Tonight, the prevailing breeze will be out of the NW, which favors downstream locations. West End Bridge will be perfect, also along either shore downstream. I have a preference for Fineview, which will be pretty good if the breeze holds. I'd get there via porting the bikes up the 200-ish steps beyond James Street behind Allegheny General Hospital. If you have to drive somewhere, get to the park & ride under PA65 up by where Chateau and Beaver come together by Island Ave. Absolutely *the* best place to escape from, as you can bike out to the car from wherever, and be past the throngs stuck in traffic up close. To get east by car from there, loop around Beaver/Chateau to get on 19 North, up Marshall to Perrysville, then wiggle over to Ivory Ave or Rochester Rd, and come down into Millvale, then Friday Rd into Etna, and over either the 40th or 62nd St Bridges. Stay away from 28 or you'll be stuck.

Oh yeah, West End Bridge. I'd be going by there anyway to get to the Overlook. I figure I'll go a bit early and cruise around scoping out spots...

Sidewalk of 31st at bridge. From the east end, cross the highland park bridge sidewalk to some back roads in sharpsburg, to the rail road access under the 62nd st bridge to millvale and then 31st bridge. Or take 62nd street bridge to the rail road access.
