fixing a mangled derailleur

The trip from McCandless to Dormont last night was sweet. The trip back was disastrous. I don't know if I picked up a stick, or what, but all of a sudden, my derailleur was stuck in my spokes, and my rear wheel immediately seized.

Now comes the question, is it possible -- and worth the bother -- to attempt a repair? Or do I just replace the derailleur?

Some photos (assuming this works, which it did not two nights ago):

Pah, photos failed again. Let's try just one, in a small size:

OK, that worked. Let's try the other two:

Yay, I finally got photos to appear. Now why did it work the second time and not the first? The code I typed was identical in both posts.

Anyway, any suggestions on fixing the bike? Thank you in advance!

That's not getting fixed. Well, the derailleur isn't.

Replace it, but also make sure that nothing else is damaged, such as the dropouts being bent or any damage to the drive side spokes.

You could try to put it in a vice and bend it with pliers but, that's a long shot.
