New Reports from Women Cycling Survey
APBP is sending this email to you because of your interest in the topic of women cycling. We encourage you to share this information with others.
When APBP opened a survey to gather information about women cycling in 2010, we thought we’d receive a few hundred responses from members. Instead the survey went viral, garnering more than 13,000 responses. Three of the survey questions invited an open-ended response; APBP received thousands of diverse and interesting answers. These answers have now been sorted, grouped and analyzed in three reports written by apbp member Andrea Garland:
• What would cause you to start or increase your cycling?
• What reaction do you get when cycling for transportation?
• Why do you use your bicycle for trips?
Although not a scientific survey, the responses offer much interesting and useful information. Download the three reports from www.apbp.org. Researchers interested in analyzing additional questions can contact APBP for further information. APBP is grateful to apbp member Fionnuala Quinn for her continuing work on the Women Cycling Project.
Visit a new website dedicated to the topic, www.womencyclingproject.info which we hope to make interactive so people who are doing good work can share it with others. For now, it includes links to the reports and our two earlier free webinars on women cycling. You may also be interested in viewing apbp’s free webinar: NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide which presented detailed information about the types of bicycle facilities some survey respondents said they would like to see in their city.
^ Thanks, Swalfoort! The winning video on the 2nd link you posted was interesting. Nary a helmet in sight & also interesting (& kind of sad IMHO) that the girls really needed for cycling to be an extension of fashion in order to give it a go.
