Forum

Hi, so for years, this forum has remained the same and I'm not ungrateful or anything; it's been a great resource. But still, after years, threads are cut off at the right side. It's happening on iPad in the Murray ave thread for an example. Has there been any discussion about updating the forums? Would also be nice to be able to post pictures without needing your own personal web space, Etc like most other message boards out there. Just think it might be time for an update. Thanks.

I've heard that the whole website is undergoing revamping so I assume these will too. Not sure of the eta of something new.

No idea the timeline, either, but can confirm that a comprehensive revamp is in progress.

I think it is on the same time table as the EFT paving.

I've beta-tested a replacement site, at Bike-Pgh's invitation, just in the last couple of weeks, so it's definitely coming.

I've noticed that the server hasbeen slow recently. Sometimes non responsive. This is probably a web host problem. Wondering if anyone else is having the same thing?

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Also sometimes I get database errors. So I assume it has to be rebooted etc. Showing its age.

I've been having a weird buggy issue where the board eats my posts -- I write up a post, click submit, the page reloads, and my post is gone. Tried it on a few diff devices and diff browsers. Doesn't happen all the time, but seems to be without pattern. Just in case anyone's keepin a bug log for future iterations! <3

It may be eating posts that include URLs. i've seen that happen sometimes. No indication is given of what happened. You can work around it by submitting the post without the URL, then editing it in. But that doesn't always work.

!!!! They were def all posts that included URLs! Thanks for the workaround, will give that a shot!

there is def a reboot on the way. we are at the mercy of the design firm on this, and i more than anything would like to provide an eta.

I have learned, after lots of practice, to compose anything more than a paragraph in Notepad (on laptop) or Notes (on iPad/iPhone), then copy/paste in the text. I've lost so many posts over the years it isn't funny. Ditto Facebook, for that matter.

I can't find the thread that was started a long time ago for suggestions/improvements to the current message board, so i'm hijacking this old thread --   I've noted in recent days that the https lock icon has disappeared (using newest version of chrome) and instead I just get the i with a circle, meaning that pretty much every page I visit on the message board has at least some insecure content.   can someone feed this back to the developers?

It's the ad for Over The Bar in the right column. That image is loaded insecurely, with a hardwired http. They just need to add an "s" there.

Perfect. Now if someone from bikepgh would read this and pass it on to the volunteer webadmin .
