Holy cow, I want to send that family flowers. That's fantastic. The different parties that became involved - that's how things are supposed to work. Thanks.
Get em' when their young!
Came across this on the PG today, and smiled thinking kids are going to start growing up with bicycle commuting so close to the city!
Who knows how long they will keep biking, but if they stick with it long enough to consider it when it comes time for 'the car', maybe a few will keep it up.
Slightly different topic: Also excited to see another bike bridge going in. However, over Clifton road is just a small spur trail, correct? This isn't the bridge that needs to happen over library?

Right, the just-installed bridge is on the Bethel Park spur of the trail.
At Library, on the main line of the Montour Trail, the bridge is in place already. They need to convert it from an old railroad trestle to a trail bridge, and build the connecting trail to the east. A note in a recent trail newsletter mentioned that this project had gotten stuck for a while, but was now back on track with a new plan (no details).
Before that happens, they'll likely install two other bridges, both new, on the main line of the Montour (at the Morganza and Georgetown Road crossings). Those may get done this year with luck.
I went to school in Bethel. As much of a
suburban shit hole that place is, our
vice principal would let us store our bikes
in the art room when we rode to school.
Conform or be cast out.
The suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth
