awesome! did patrick dowd end up as a celebrity keg puller?
Great turnout at the Reverse Keg Ride OTB -> East End Brewing
150+ riders showed up to raise money for Bike Pgh and the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank today. Hauled some empty kegs of Pedal Pale Ale back to East End Brewing, and celebrated the that winter ale we all love...Snow Melt.
Thanks for a FUN day.
Pictures and video from the event.
haha
That's awesome.
I was sleeping from the previous night's Free Ride party.
My girlfriend, Myself AND our dog Amber had a GREAT time! We missed the season opener this year but will most certainly be there in the spring!!
What a fun ride - I was a bit surprised by the circuitous route, but it was a great way to spend the afternoon. The snow melt was delicious at the end, too.
Hey,
Thanks to all that came out to ride, raise some money for great causes, and have a beer.
The route was indeed rather round-about, but the whole notion was to enjoy a bit of the city on two wheels that you maybe don't usually get to see. (That, and avoiding the big long hill up Panther Hollow that we took in the Spring - and avoid the Neville/Fifth intersection at the top of it.)
John, thanks for the awesome photo and video log of the day, as usual.
Thanks to all of our celeb keg pullers too:
Patrick Dowd - City Councilman
Stephen Patchan - Pgh's Bike/Ped Coordinator
Bob Batz - Post Gazettte's beer writer/supporter
Seth Gernot - Venture Outdoor's resident bicycle fanatic
With about 175 riders in all (counting the add-ons we collected along the way) we raised about $1100 for our two charities, Bike-Pgh and The Greater Pgh Community Food Bank. Not huge bucks, but an excellent test-run for turning out Spring Ride into a charity event too.
Special thanks to Lou for route planning help, and to Lou and Snake Guy for handling ALL of the registration side in such a nice orderly fashion. And of course to Mike, Marty, and everyone at OTB for getting all of this together - breakfast included!
Enjoy the Snow Melt, and I'll see you in the spring!
