Help us promote the Bikepool Extravaganza!

The Bikepool Extravaganza is taking place this Friday July 22nd. We want to reach out to "interested but concerned" commuters who want to try bike commuting and would benefit by learning from the more experienced riders among us.

Beyond the 22nd we are using the day to encourage bike commuters to register for the bicycle matching service provided by Commuteinfo. CommuteInfo is affiliated with the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) . It's very helpful to the future of bike improvements that the MPO sees an increase in the number of registered bicyclists.

By registering for the program you can make yourself available to concerned riders and be counted as an area bike commuter.

I hope you can participate on the 22nd and register for the matching service.

So, the information requested in the BMS is very specific to me, but it would not set a bike pool meeting point for Friday the 22nd, is that correct? That seems a separate thing.

There seems to be a big hole in the meetup map right in the general vicinity of where I live, which is guilting me. I could probably do a ride in on Friday from Carnegie or so, if anyone is interested. Also I do not normally leave my house until about 8:00, but I could leave up to an hour earlier, for Friday.

Just in case anyone asks, the West View contingent, led by me, is designed for people in the West View, Ross, McCandless and Wexford areas. I know of no all-day parking right at that point, and I am not planning on using Perry/Perrysville to get into the city, so will not be traveling past the Perrysville P&R. While there's nothing wrong with you and your bike being dropped off in West View, it's best that someone take the car elsewhere.

I plan on using Center Ave westward into Bellevue, then Lincoln, California, and Shadeland and Brighton. Anyone heading to CCAC Allegheny, we will get quite close to that (Brighton and North). I plan to use the Fort Duquesne Bridge sidewalk, into Point State Park, to get Downtown.

Yes, the Bikepool Matching Service is separate from the event on the 22nd. The BMS enters you into a data base to let other registrants in your neighborhood know that you could be available to ride together. It's an ongoing service.

For the 22nd let me know a meeting location and I'll post it to the Extravaganza Map. Your bikepool should not change the routine of your day too much. Post what is convenient for you and if we get some interest you'll have an opportunity to adjust logistics if needed. Thanks.
