Help with Flickr

After using Flickr more or less successfully for years, I can no longer share URLs in a way that generates an image, rather than a link.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it an operator error, a settings correction or has Flickr changed the way it is handling photos?

What are others using? I might have to leave Flickr.

I was able to fix my most recent issue, but sometimes Flickr will only offer me the option to "share the link" and not necessarily the option to grab the html code.

I'm having no trouble, though my method is archaic.

Things have changed for me too. I was annoyed, and confused at first, but now I like the new way.

This may help, but I know everyone uses different devices, so it might not...

From my phone, I login to fickr.

I now have to choose the "Old Uploader" link to upload.

Once uploaded, I go to the "You" tab

I hold down on the image I want and a dialog box gives me selections -I choose "Open Image"

The url of the image looks like this:

farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8236523262_2f6bca7793_z.jpg

To post the image on the message board, I add coding before and after the url above like this:

img src="http:// copy and paste the url shown above here "

Of course the above statement has to have the < > at beginning and end. And must not have spaces in the url.

@TD - thanks! I'll give your system a shot. I remember seeing a link to the "old uploader" but I am not certain that I saw it this morning. I might just have missed it, of course.

Oh - just an extra fyi/clarification... to get to the old uploader, I have to choose the current "upload" link first. On the resulting page, I find the "old uploader" link in the top navigation area - it's very small and it seems to disappear when I enlarge my screen. I can't even scroll to it when my screen is enlarged.

Weird.

Check your browser preferences, there might be an option to "display/show full web address." I know that Opera has such an option under advanced... not sure what other browsers may have adopted this with a recent build.

According to Flickr's FAQ:

Where is the HTML code and photo file link?

The HTML code to embed a photo in a web page that you used to find on the All Sizes page is now only in the Share menu above the photo, to the right of the Actions menu. We now also include BBCode! (standard message board code)

There are a few cases where the code may not be available: 1) If the photo is restricted. 2) If that person has turned off "Share this" or access to original files.

The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.
