I just saw a sign there the other day. Just wanted to make sure people knew that was coming up. Don't know how long the closure will last. If anyone knows more, please post. I don't ride on that bridge roadway anymore due to the speed and aggression that I have had there.

According to PennDot's recording the sidewalk will be closed from 1/10/22 - 1/17/22. There will be no detour or other way to cross. That being said, you will have to ride on the road or head down to the 62nd Street bridge and carry your bike up the steps and cross. Riding on the roadway on the Highland Park Bridge is done, but I won't do it anymore as I have had a VERY close call and you have no escape. People regally drive over 65mph on the bridge and even faster, not to mention very aggressively.

I would love to see a speed camera record traffic speeds on the bridge, regardless of whether citations get written for it or not.

Stu, I ride it and drive it. I would say 55 is not driving fast on that bridge. 60 is still kind of normal. 70 is probably every 20th car. Then you have a few really crazy drivers. I don't recommend riding a bike on that road as you. have no escape. Just too fast these days.
Hope the sidewalk opens soon, but it will be FILLED with debris as they plow all the crap on the sidewalk from all the crashes and everything else that accumulates on the road when there is snow on the sidewalk. I have seen the road completely cleared and a plow will come along and just plow that little bit left on the edge and throw that garbage all over the sidewalk. I assume they do that to piss cyclists and walkers off I guess, because it is spiteful.
Ride good tires and hope for the best. Sometimes I have to walk the whole thing carrying my bike if it is plowed over with ice. No one cares and everyone blames each other. It will never change in my lifetime.
