Honestly, I think that the thieves probably have a system. The shopping plaza they were at is about a mile from the UW campus which also has a high theft rate. These guys were probably stealing bikes from the campus and driving them down to Portland to sell in addition to stealing bikes from Portland and then selling them in Seattle. Fucking shitbags. A friend of mine had his bike stolen from that same area in Seattle a couple of months ago and for all I know, I could have just been looking at the bike thief in that video.

Portland -> Seattle is comfortably doable in a quick day by car, if they're stealing and reselling a 2.5k bike each trip, that's still a ridiculous profit after gas/wear and tear on the car - even if they only do one or two a month.

Thieves suck, but people who lie like that, that's just ass. I guess if they had enough class to be honest and apologize, they wouldn't be bike thieves.

That's pretty dumb of him to not coordinate with the police before confronting the perp.
