Is there a modern 24 Hours of Canaan-like race in WV?

So I was reading about the 24 Hours of Canaan bike race and it sounded awesome. I then read it moved to Snowshoe. Poking around Granny Gears Productions' website (they are the ones who put the race on), it looks as if all the fun has been moved to Moab and NH. Does anyone know of a race like this in the WV highlands?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is very long.

There is a team race in Big Bear (site of the final Granny Gear 24hr race in WV).

Seven Springs has a 24 hour race, it is small, but well run and the course is good fun.

damn, i was just reading about the 24 hours of canaan and how its called the woodstock of mountain bike racing. im not very competitive, but the idea of hanging out for 24 hours and riding every few sounds awesome. seems weird that they would stop doing such a seminal race like that.

thanks for the info!

Do it. 24 hour racing is so awesome. Highly recommended. Potentially one of the best weekends you'll ever have with friends on a bike. No matter what happens it will be a good story.

Seven Springs is killer, I've heard the course has only gotten better in the ~5? years since I've been up there. The old Big Bear course was also pretty great.

Never done a 24 hr mountain biking race however I have done a 24 hour point to point adventure race from Hidden Valley to Pittsburgh (120 miles mixture of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking). I have a love/hate memory of it but would definitely do it again despite almost having hypothermia.

I don't think I have ever done anything for 24 straight hours.

i recently picked up a 90's cannondale m300 from gerry's and am looking for ways to put it to good use other than pulling fat drunks around in the pedicab.

ill have to look into the seven springs one for next season.

7 Springs always has a great vibe. Its labor

day weekend, so there is a RR day afterward.

There are all types of people there, from

the super serious racers to dude just there

to drink a beer every lap. 6 man teams and

solo's. Its not so much woodstock as a bunch

of nice people hanging out and racing bikes.

You camp right at the start/finish. There is a small tent-city for the weekend there.
