June 12, 2015 Rainbow Ride with 412Flock!

https://www.facebook.com/events/875630132483569/ I know that not everybody has teh Facebook, so please let me mention that during Gay Pride Week, there's a Rainbow Bicycle Ride with 412Flock! We start at Dippy the dinosaur in Oakland. Meetup, comments, briefing at 6pm, pedals turning at 6.30pm. We have a route that passes by several key spots in both historic and contemporary gay Pittsburgh. Ride ends at Point State Park at about 8.15 probably. Here's the blurb:
412Flock! hosts monthly bicycle rides that are slow-paced, comfortable, welcoming and friendly. You don't need a high-end bike or a special outfit — but if you want to get your rainbow-fabulous on, that's great too! This ride meets at Dippy the Dinosaur at 4400 Forbes Ave at 6pm and rolls out at 6:30pm on Friday, June 12th. We'll ride about 15 miles on a route that highlights some key gay-Pittsburgh places. The route will end at Point State Park in Downtown, but a bike train back to Oakland afterward will be available if needed. We do require helmets and lights and stop at all red lights, because that's the way we roll—fun and safe! Our mission is to help remind people of the joy of bicycle riding, and to embrace communities who might not be fully represented by legacy bike outreach. So please join us for a friendly, comfortable ride—and bring your rainbow!

Some folks have asked, what's with "Rainbow Ride"? three years ago, Flock started to have a PrideRide. A foundation objected to use of the p-word because they believe it's a trademark. We're about bicycles not litigation, so we changed the date and had a Rainbow Ride. This year there's a lot of activity around Delta and community inclusiveness. We're not involved with Delta, although they've listed the ride on their calendars. We just want to celebrate bicycling in conjunction with Gay Pride activities. And we hope you'll come along and ride!

Bump. Dippy Friday June 12, briefing at 6pm, pedals turning promptly at 6.30. Route includes a memorial stop at a murder scene, a gay bar turned into a church, a stock exchange turned into a gay dance club, and a mid-1980's Aids Hospice. also: great fun! I would like to express my appreciation to everybody who has lived with all of my many Twitter/Facebook posts this last week. Hope to see yinz there!
