Kickstart a new cam

From an Urban Velo blog posting, there is a new Kickstarter campaign for a bike cam that has the features I've been waiting for. Specifically, I don't have to keep pulling the card every day and hooking it up to my pc to clear the space. This system takes care of that automatically, erasing the boring rides but saving the crashes or when I press a button. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rideye/rideye-the-black-box-camera-for-your-bike

I wish the spectacam kickstarter was a success. It looked like a great idea to have a forward and rearward facing camera that interfaced with a smartphone. You could get evidence of a car approaching dangerously and their license plate as they passed.

I'm not sure Rideye is the very best name for a something in a metal box with pointy corners. Apart from that it looks really good, addressing all the reasons I stopped using my camera.

I noticed the end of the Rideye funding period is Oct 15th. You can still get one for $119 instead of $150 before that date. It seems to be a well-thought-out and fully developed project. I hope this product will help apprehend hit-and-run drivers in the future. The most memorable hit-and-run incidence to me was the one involving two UPMC doctors: Link I wondered if they have any leads on the perpetrator now?
