Wow, I'm impressed!

I like the way this story was written. It credits a lot of people in specific ways, and points out how government reps interacting transparently with the people they represent can result in the good and right things happening.

My friend just sent me this article about the cyclist who was struck while riding in a bike lane by an 84 year old woman. The driver was given two citations but won't be prosecuted any further. I suppose this law would help the family find justice if he does die, but it does nothing to protect people from drivers who aren't capable of driving a vehicle anymore.

I suspect it would raise the attentiveness of the family of the 84 year old, and other people in that situation, to pay closer attention to how capable they are behind the wheel. As it should for everyone.

Edmonds hit it spot on. It moves from "damn, grandma can't drive, hope she doesn't kill anyone!" to "I don't want grandma to be locked up for remainder of her golden years, lets see what we can do to take her car away".
