Microsoft's Streetside - very nice

Microsoft has their own version of Google's Streetview. They call it Streetside if you haven't seen it yet. Two things I like about it right off- they have a little navigating map up in the corner so you can easily move around, and its movie like when you go from picture to picture down a street, I think they're calling that technology Streetslide . but not much of pgh is done yet...

upper left "Get Directions: Driving, Walking, Transit" something missing... can't put my finger on it...

I admit, I'd like it better if I saw more than cameras with x's in them for everything I search for (including "USA").

Whoa - that's nice. Love the rotating images. I'm a big Google fan, but it's great to see there's some competition out there!

I can see my car in the office parking lot while looking at 2 of the viewpoints and it's not there on 2 other views.

Also, really interesting, I can see that there are trees that I recognize in one view and they are missing on another view. The trees were removed after a huge storm about 2 years ago. That shows the dates the images were captured had a fairly long gap between views. So cool.

Am I missing something or is there a way to see images as if you're riding along the street? Maybe my browser? I don't see that.

Why does Microsoft remind me of the dog in Aesop's Fable "Dog and His Bone" (I'm not saying that competition is a bad thing).

@TeamDecaf, to slide along the street -

I just move the cursor over the image to where I want to go and then click the mouse. On IE8 a little blue guy appears at the end of the arrow cursor, then when I click the mouse, it simulates riding along the street to that location.

They also have a Birds Eye View which is fun to check out. These are oblique aerial views instead of the vertical shots that Google Earth uses. They use 4 oblique aerial photos for each scene, so you can see the building sides and so on. You get there by clicking a little building icon at the bottom of the screen (next to the blue figure icon for Streetside, By the Compass) and selecting:

"Map Type-> Bird's Eye "

Or here's some southside:

Birds Eye View- Station Square

Then click and drag the blue figure icon to get to Streetside.
