So this weekend we tried again to ride the Montour trail with the inlaws and pulled in to what I believe was the parkinglot at Enlow rd and Cliff Mine rd, and it was all blocked off "for construction". Half the parkinglot was blocked off, cars filled the other half, and there was a Moon twp police cruiser sitting there not really moving towards shooing us but not exactly encouraging us to park. There were plastic jersey barriers blocking the trail west, and confused trail users at the eastern end, both sides had signs saying the trail was closed.
http://www.montourtrail.org/construction/index.asp says nothing about it that I can tell.
We continued on (via car) and "put in" at Imperial, near the ball fields, but when we drove home, I noticed the jersey barrier blocking the trail at the western end was gone and so was the cop - the signs saying it was all closed for construction were there, but people were ignoring them but still all looked confused.
Not sure what happened, but it looked like the trail was always open - the parking lot was what was "under construction" (not obvious what was going on other than inconveniencing trail users, but sure, "construction" on a Sunday), and it appeared that the trail was, in fact, open.
Not sure if anybody can clarify what the deal was or how long it will be going on, but such a busy trail would seem to merit some clarity, somewhere.
I hate needless mass confusion. We seem to perpetually inflict it upon ourselves as a species.
