New Bike Friendly Bank

hey all!

perhaps you have noticed the new bank going up on center and morewood... it is going to be a Fidelity bank, and LEED Certified.

If you are familiar with LEED cert, none of the levels require bike or tree infrastructure---it's all "bonus" points (it is incredibly dated and I could rant about this...)

ANYWAY

I have been in contact with the manager of the bank and she told me she is getting some bike racks (pray for no toasters) and there will be a bike-through as well as a drive-thru to do banking business by bike!

I've never heard of this before. But it sounds cool. I told her to advertise it in Bike pgh's newsletter and maybe in a magazine or three that are pittsburgh and bike-centric. Anyway thats all I have to tell ya.

if you open an acct with them now before they open (they have a bank in bloomfield) they will give you a $100 to whole foods, or to a membership with the phipps and venture outdoors, or some other thing i forget!

sorry, i am not their spokesperson, but its nice that a bank is doing some stuff like this. they may be local, but i am not sure.

I know where I'm moving my account to. Wonder if there are any perks for a commercial account.

Is PNC that bad? I have a National City account that is going to First Niagara, and one going to PNC. The people at National City (Monroeville Mall branch) have been great (They have gone above and beyond for me on a few occasions). I have been thinking about what to do when the change over happens.

Sort of off topic, but yes, without going into detail,I had trouble with my account at pnc and left them several years ago.I thought the tellers and managers at pnc arrogant and unfriendly.I find the smaller banks more customer service friendly.

Stipulations on the 100 dollar whole foods card.

- you must make 6 atm purchases /month on the account or they charge like 3 dollars

- must use online billpay 1/month or its .99 cents

i signed up. Still havent gotten my gift card yet!

Not very pedestrian friendly as they've had the sidewalk torn out for months with a huge fence out into the street. I curse the company every time I think about it. When my girlfriend moves to Sq.Hill I won't have to worry though.

I am also tired of PNC, moving my accounts to Riverset Credit Union

FWIW, the folks at Citizens Bank in Pines Plaza in Ross have never given me a hard time about my bringing my bike into the entryway there. It's an L-shaped entrance, which makes it easier to do than a straight pass-through.
