October Tweed
Hello all! Ben and I are ironing out the last details of the October Tweed Run that we are leading saturday the 16th. We've led two of them so far, and rather than choosing the route for the upcoming with an iron fist, we thought we'd open it up to suggestions, and put something together from what comes back. All we know is that it will begin and end at ClankWorks in Doughboy Square. There will be an after ride studio open-house with free refreshments, and tunes of some kind.
So! The question is:
What parts of the city would you like to see from behind a pair of north road bars whist pedaling along in your knickers and wool caps?

Enough plugging, I do plenty of that for you guys as it is. Drew, I'd be cool with the ride going just about anywhere flat. I know some people didn't care for the climb up to Schenley Park for the seersucker ride.
Do you have a start time pinned down? I'm still planning on how to fit this in around our PIX schedule...

Rain is of course a concern, and it should be said the after-party at the studio is on rain or shine. With shine, we can move things outdoors too and have a good time, otherwise everyone will get to know one another a bit better inside.
A current route that is looking fairly flat and attractive, though similar to the spring tweed, would be a jaunt all the way down penn, across roberto clemente with an immediate loop around down to the trail (things get tight there for a group…), take the north shore for a bit until the slope up next to heinz field. Allegheny Ave up to Western Ave (a bit of a hill there), western back through west park, take commons drive a bit until we turn down and take river ave back to 31st, and to the studio.
A big complication is that we want to start and end the ride at doughboy square, so that people don't have to rush off to get back home at the end. As per start time, we are looking like 4-4:30 is most likely, so we can definitely say the part starts at 6 or so (sunset is at 6:15 that saturday)

The current projected high of 54 and slightly cloudy is making our inner brits rather excited.
We will have a grill going either way afterwards, with meat and vegetarian things alike to go on. A keg of East End should also be around…

Three Hours!
There will be Burgers, Dogs and Veggie Burgers afterwords, as well as a slew of finger foods. And plenty of drink choices!
The ride route is finalized, and will take us through a lovely jaunt in the Northside, and shall be a leisurely 8 or 9 miles, nothing too intense!
We hope everyone will join us, and then keep hanging out afterwards!
