Thinly veiled advertising. Their bias towards synthetic materials must have been motivated by who paid them. If I was looking for clothes I could wear in the office after biking, I would look for 100% wool, styled to look as much like work clothes as possible. Like, say, http://www.ramblersway.com/node/15109 (among many others).

I love mine and get compliments on them all the time.

Betabrand's Bike to Work line looks pretty cool (though pricy). Haven't tried them personally but they are on my wish list.
