I have a ball silently gliding past these other bike club jocks over here, not saying a word but inevitably hearing one of them exclaim something. What I do is to pedal furiously and get up to well over their speed and then coast past them, still pedaling and simulating very heavy work. Much fun!

That is pretty awful! The person who wrote that probably drives an SUV!
The bikes are pretty fast, I think they won a competition at Pike's Peak. I don't consider these bicycles as a class of vehicle, more like a moped. Some of the crazier ones I have seen (online only) are loonng travel big hit rigs, with high wattage motors. Kind of like a lightweight electric dirt bike with pedals.
