OT: A little Help

On August 5th I'm having an event at OTB where I'm going to guest bartend and have a Chinese auction. All tips and proceeds from the auction will go to Livestrong while all sales would go to OTB as they normally would.

First, I would like to invite everyone here to come and have a few drinks while supporting a great cause and a great bar/restaurant.

Second, does anyone have any ideas of who I can ask for donations or have any ins with local businesses for the Chinese auction whether it is bike related or not? I have been making some calls and have made a little progress and have a few leads, but mostly I feel like I'm beating my head against a wall so any help would be appreciated.

So far I have 3 donations: an autographed Jamie Dixon basketball (Pitt's head coach), bike rental gift cards from Golden Triangle Bike Rental, and a gift basket from Takes the Cake (my wife's specialty cake company)

Again, and Ideas or ins with local businesses would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't have contacts, but maybe ask Phipps, the Carnegie, the Warhol, the Aviary, Science Center (some of those are the same) for maybe a day pass or two, or a membership, or something? They often do stuff like that. There's also that Pittsburgh museum... the Heinze museum? The symphony/opera/ballet always have student ticks, maybe they could offer something similar.

I'm just trying to think along the lines of places that have very cool events who do not always sell out their tickets and thus might be happy for publicity/warm bodies who spend in giftshops/concession stands. Movie theaters too maybe.

(and this isn't OT at all!) (AND it sounds awesome :D )

for bike related stuff just talk to all the bike shops (and rei). if there are particular shops you are having a hard time contacting just ask on here as there are more than likely people who either work at or are on very close terms with pretty much every shop in town on this board.

also: seems obvious but, have you talked to bike-pgh about donating some schwag or a membership or two?

Pro-bikes donated some things to a cancer event my wife had 2 years ago, some of which ended up around these parts, try them.

I will think further on this also.
