OT: Disposing of green waste in Edgewood

I have a ton of bushes, tree branches, ivy etc that I need to get rid of and it's just too much for me to compost myself.

Anyone have an idea of how I can dispose of all this in a nice way?

Yes, you can take it to AgRecycle, which is just down Braddock Ave, on the other side of Penn. I'm pretty sure they'll take whatever shreddable/compostable yard waste you have, but give them a call to be sure. (Wow, they have a snazzy web site, too -- I had to be extra sure it was the right place, but it is...)

I gave them a call yesterday. They charge $8 a yard but I have no way to really get it all over there.

There's a guy who advertises hauling/clean-up at the Co-op. I've not used him, but I did talk to him last year when I was considering doing my porch roof. I don't recall his rates, but they were pretty reasonable, and he seemed like a nice guy. You may want to grab his number and give him a call.

Another alternative is to rent a small chipper/shredder. You would be amazed at how little material you will end up with. I've done several trees on my property this way and they are fully composted within a year in a small six foot compost pile.

Ah, OK. I actually have personal experience with most of these suggestions. I've got this small chipper/shredder for yard debris. It works OK, but can get jammed easily. I still use it for small jobs, but if you have a ton of stuff you would want something bigger.

I've also used Vincent (The guy Brian mentioned, who flyers at the Co-op). He was OK. I ended up having to help him a lot in order to get the work done in the right time frame, but on the other hand we negotiated a reasonable price.

Our household has also had really good experiences with Smuts Brothers Debris Removal. They've hauled stuff away for us and have always been reliable, professional, and reasonable.

Renting a chipper still presents the same issue as taking the waste somewhere, we just have no way to get it to our house.

I will give Smuts a call. Thanks.
