OT-Groupon to Rizzo's Margaritaville on SS-Expire 6/5- Free

I have a couple of Groupons for $25 worth of food and drinks at Rizzo's Margaritaville on the South Side that I probably won't be able to use before they expire on Sunday. They describe their menu as featuring "bar food." Mostly burgers and wings, so not terribly veggie/vegan friendly. But, you could spend the whole thing on beer, of course (assuming you aren't alone!) I'd rather give them away than let them go unused, so if you can use one before Sunday (6/5), PM me with an email and I'll scan one and send it over....

From Groupon:

What happens if my Groupon expires?

All is not lost! Once a Groupon reaches its expiration date, it loses its promotional value, but you can still redeem it at the price you paid for the length of time stated by gift certificate laws in your state.

So what are PA's gift certificate laws? :)

in pa, the value can not be less than what you paid for it. Which is why they did away with the "if you dont use your gift card in 1 year we start deducting $1 for every month its inactive" a few years ago

but, 2 years after the exp date, it has to (is supposed to) be turned over as unclaimed property.

""Under Pennsylvania law, unused gift certificates are turned over to the Pennsylvania Department of the Treasury as unclaimed property. The business must turn the gift certificate over two years after expiration date. If there is no expiration date, then it must be turned over five years from the date of issuance. You may claim certificates from the Department of the Treasury by calling 1-800-222-2046. Thus far, The Pennsylvania state treasury has collected more than $2.7 million in unredeemed gift certificates and is currently seeking the rightful owners.""

Wow, I'd hate to have that job.

Thanks for all the great reminders on the value retention of groupons. In this case, I am happy to have given them to people who can enjoy them at their full "groupon" value.

Yes, both are spoken for.....
