OT - Saturday October 27th, 8pm - Big Idea Bookstore's 2nd Annual Member Drive!

The Big Idea Cooperative Bookstore & Cafe's 2nd Annual Member Drive Join us Saturday, October 27, for a black-tie party where we'll unveil this year's newest member perks! All are welcome for $10 at the door (food and drink tickets included in admission), which can be applied toward a membership.

Annual memberships are sliding scale--$20 to $100--and you can pick your membership type.

The Recycler Membership: The member buys new books at list price and may return an unlimited number of them to the store

after reading for 25% back.

The Collector Membership: Those who prefer to keep their books on their shelves go for this one: Members buy all their new books at a direct 10% discount. No hassle!

Renewing members renew for another year of benefits simply by attending the party (only $10).

What: Member Drive and Black-Tie Gala

When: Saturday, October 27, 2012, 8 to 11 p.m.

Where: 4812 Liberty Avenue (Bloomfield)

Cost: $10, plus membership (optional)

TO OUR CURRENT MEMBERS:

If you joined the Big Idea at our first annual member drive, you may have noticed that your membership is set to expire this month. But fear not! We are extending membership benefits until the end of October, when you can renew at our second annual member drive.

We learned a lot during our first year of offering memberships, and we discovered that we want to be offering you so much more. So we came up with a list of brand new member perks—plus the regular discounts that you're used to—for this upcoming year:

*Members can order wholesale fair-trade organic coffee from us for $9 a pound (with one week’s notice).

*Members can get the lunch special any time.

*Members get free mug storage in the Mug Club, and a free refill every time they fill their Mug Club mug.

*Members qualify for monthly raffles for two $10 gift certificates.

We hope that you'll continue to support this all-volunteer, cooperatively run independent bookstore/cafe/events space in Pittsburgh with a renewed membership this year.

And we're making it really easy for you. All you have to do is come to our member party. Any current member who attends our Member Drive on October 27th for $10 automatically gets an extra year tacked on to their membership—even if you just joined recently. With free food, drinks, music, and an extra year for membership for only $10, how can you go wrong?

So save the date!

But I should wear a black tie? I'll see what I can do.

If anyone is stoked/bored after this, and wondering who else they can give $10 to in hopes of supporting them and having a good time, Free Ride will be having a Halloween party, in our new space (which is a lot more clean and orderly now than it was in August for those who visited then).

On a slightly related note, are there any plans to get a latte machine in Big Idea? I seldom drink coffee on its own.

I may have one to donate. Heavy sucker- can someone pick it up? I may be able to deliver it, but don't drive too often. I live in Squirrel Hill.

Pierce - it's a ways away. It's on our wish-list to someday have. There's just not enough funds yet for it. Hopefully someday!

Attendees will be able to see the rare occurrence of me wearing a skirt, nice shirt/shoes, tights, and cute hair things. Don't miss this!

If there was ever another fundraiser for that item, I would support it

Thanks to anyone who came tonight! I ended up ducking out early due to an early work day in the morning.

And thanks to Mick for dropping by with a used book donation!
