Pittsburgh-Erie-Pittsburgh, 08/21 and 08/22

Details are still sketchy, but the Pittsburgh Randonneurs will be running a 2-day trip to Erie and back next month, in the form of back-to-back 200K brevets. The basic plan is to start in Cranberry, head up to Erie and an overnight at the Comfort Inn, then return the next day along a similar route.

The route will be fairly similar to that of the MS 150, i.e. reasonably mellow; no multi-mile climbs or Dirty Dozen-style hills need apply. It's rando-style, so fully self-supported (although, with sufficient interest, it may be possible to arrange a car to carry drop bags to Erie, but that's to be determined).

Which of the two days is "easier"? I am thinking of riding the route to Erie.

My husband is running a marathon in Titusville the next day so he could -- in theory, have not asked -- pick me up in Erie and give me a ride to Titusville. If this was the case, he could drop off some stuff for other ppl too.

Dunno...I haven't mapped 'em out from Jim's preliminary cue sheet yet.

I suspect Day 1 will be slightly easier, in that things get flatter as you approach Erie, but there's probably not that much difference betwixt the two.

Well, let me run this idea past Conrad. The more I think about it, the more I am inclined to do this ride. But I am not sure how C will feel about an extra couple of hours of driving the day before his marathon. I'll just tell him to SUCK IT UP.

Jim's cue sheet construction -- clicking on little roads next to big roads -- might make this ride a bit of an adventure, don't you think??? :)

Little roads are way more fun ;-)

ut-oh, Conrad agreed to my crazy plan. There's a good chance I'll be riding to Erie with you (or more like far behind you).
