PNC Neighborhood Wishlist -- $500 grants
PNC has a $500 grant program for neighborhood improvement projects. Maybe somebody here will be interested in submitting a grant request to improve bike infrastructure: http://pncneighborhoodwishlist.com/#about.

Yeah, I know bikeways are expensive, but there's signs, corrals -- lots of things can be done for $500. I'll bet there are creative people here who can do a lot with that much money.

The Butler Freeport Community Trail group got the downtown Butler sharrow program going for not much more than $500. And it has been a huge success.
I've looked into this, and the group seems to like quirky and creative. Corrals, maybe, but a corral with a quirk factor? That would be even better.
But, someone get an idea in QUICK. They accept the first 2500, then do a popular vote to see which ones - yes multiple - to fund.

Is there a small community out there that could pull together a ciclovia day with volunteer labor and $500 cash, and call it a community cycling celebration or something?

How much do ADA curb ramps cost? What about speed bumps? Would love the curb ramps on Bates street sidewalk coming up from Parkway from ramp and to address the traffic situation from the parkway ramp spilling out onto Bates would love combo of speed bump and sign (ped X-ing, stay behind bump).

A lot of projects are funded from a variety of sources. $500 here, $500 there, next thing you know, you've got enough to complete. Every bit helps.

Every bit helps.Exactly, the non-profit I work for writes grant requests for programs and reaches out to many sources. Sometimes we get help from many orgs/companies, sometimes we don't get any at all.

YES. YES. I ride/walk Bates to get to work and that intersection is the worst. I also live in South Oakland and take those stairs that dump on the east side of Bates and I would kill for a sign that says "Yield to Peds" and new crosswalk paint.

You know, some of the sign ideas giving new cyclists and pedestrians ideas about where they should and shouldn't walk/ride on the trail would fall into this, especially the "Burma Shave" idea. That is pretty quirky. And $500 would pay for some pretty good signs, I'd bet.
