Racks in front of the Penguins arena

Not sure when they were put in, but I spotted them on my bus ride this morning. They're nice: circles! I want a closer look, though. At a glance they appeared a tad close to the building.

Would I be allowed to lock up to them if I wear my Flyers jersey?

you probably won't even make it to the arena before getting run off the road

you would be locked up, yes.

If you're looking for things to throw away before you move, that jersey would be #1 on my list.

hey if we all had those jerseys, maybe drivers would be less angry with us on the road!

I've had that thought. You could also try the US Army jersey if you ever want to ride in Philly.

Drew and I have often discussed the idea of bike-gating to pgh sporting events. I think the irnz pounding yinzers may look at bikers in a different light if we rolled up 10 strong to a stillerz/pens game with a quarter barrel in tow…

I posted it to our FB page back in October when they were being installed. There are 20 racks in all accommodating 40 bikes.

Has anyone every bought group tickets before from the Penguins? A ride to the game would be a blast.

I am down

Edit: I have ridden to the arena a ton of times and just locked up 10 ft. from the gate on a railing. Never had an issue, though it's sweet that they put racks in. I guess filling out surveys really does help.

I wanna fender-gate (rack-gate? trail(er)-gate? Bike-gate?)! That sounds like so much fun!

I'm building a bike trailer grill/cooler/stereo for the spring...

Slightly OT: Are there bike racks at Heinz Field? Got Stillers tix for my birthday!

Awesome Nick! Let everyone know how it goes, would love to get in on that.

We also had delusions of grandeur and creating a giant trailer out of the back half of an F150. Y'know, to blend in n'at.

I'd go to a game by bike, to hang out with you guys... But I'd probably just ride my bike around during the game - the streets are nice and empty when everybody is watching "the game" (any game, really, pens and stillers both are great traffic calming devices, I wish the bucks would step it up then we'd have year round traffic control). Can't waste that being confused and cold, staring at people getting paid to run around and have fun... It's not that I'm a lousy fan, it's that I'm a lousy spectator.

Yes there are racks. I use the ones right where the Gateway Clipper dock is (near the Jumbotron).
