Rail trails put anglers on path to better fishing

Nice article in the Trip today about fishing along the Western PA bike trails.

Nice to see this is catching on. If you are an angler, this will hook you. Been doing it in WV for near three decades, where every major, (and most minor), waterway has a RR grade next to it or nearby. Keep a mtb in a cabin down there, and have a specific, custom, 6 1/2 ft 3 weight 3 piece graphite fly rod that breaks down and fits like a pump in the frame. Of course around here I have to use my custom 9 1/2 ft 7/8 weight two piece, which is rather unwieldy to transport. Have yet to come up with a name for the activity, "Piscatorialcyclist" is a mouthful. "Salmocyclist" sounds too much like someone who goes the wrong way down one-ways. "Truttocyclist"? "Salvenouscyclist" is slippy. "Fishcyclist"?

Thanks for linking to the article, I would have missed it otherwise. Don't read the local hack rags.

I do this often in the summer when I can wet-wade, but I hAte to bike in waders. So early/late trips it's bike to a spot and stay put. Of course I've been known to cast to a specific rise through a dozen fly canges, so staying put can be a stratagy too.
