Rebranding..... welcome to the 412 Flock!

Some changes have been happening in the "Flockspehere".... WELCOME to the now called "412 Flock!", which is the re-branding of "Flock of Cycles", founded in 2010 - same fun, rides and non-profit with just a more Pittsburgh name! 412 Flock! mission is to connect different groups and individuals who want to use their bikes and their unique experiences to make themselves and Pittsburgh a better place by leading slow, safe, and welcoming group city rides and providing marshal services. 412 Flock! Goals: *To add value to the Pittsburgh community and organizations by conducting fun, operationally sound bike rides that are returning-rider and new-arrival friendly. *To emphasize safety and best practices to get people on bikes in an urban setting. *To structure our activities as an outreach to communities that are not explicitly embraced by the typical cycling schedule. *To reclaim the child-like sense of riding a bike by building joy into everything we do. So.. pardon our FB dust while we settle in again!

Curious as to efforts to rebrand "Flock of Cycles" (possibly the greatest name ever). First trying to change the Flock of Cycles ride name to the Brodude-Beer sounding "Pittsburgh Party Ride," now this. What's that about? Is there some kind of legal problem with "Flock of Cycles?"

Nah Mick -- not a legal hang up. We'll call it more of a human hang up. One of the biggest things that came out of the discussions as to whether Flock had any life in it any more was that there was just a need for a change. We wanted to keep the energy. We wanted to keep aiding and abetting folk's entry into our bike-y world. But we wanted to approach everything just a little bit differently. One of the ways to exemplify that kinda-the-same-but-different difference is a new name. It'd be a bigger uphill slog to be a different org with an existing name. It is simply easier to mentally put us in a different box if we have a different name. That said, if you know and love the org in it's past incarnation (and I know you did), you'll find plenty to love in 412Flock. I hope we see you in April.
