reintroduction

hi i'm back in town for a month at least (not that you would know i was gone for 9 months with my posting habits). I want to go on rides, looking forward to the roubaix and all the bike related festivities coming up.

hopefully i'm going to find a job and end up staying here, but once the end of my lease rolls around around on aug 1 and i don't have a job i think i'm going to start meandering to other cities.

write back if you're going on any fun rides soon! (or have a job perfectly suited for me!)

Hey hey! I saw your bike locked up on Forbes an hour ago. I said, WOW! Mark's back!

speaking of looking at my bike, anyone have a solid place to get powder coating done in the city? maybe this should be its own thread... or i should search first... either way...

howdy! i am in a temp living situation in bloomfield for now... in my dreams i'll get a decent job and find a one bedroom in the reg. sq. area but we'll see! i hit up all the new bike infastructure that has popped up since i left... pretty impressive... its like doubled.

Thick does powder, IIRC.

Hope we can be neighbors again. I'll keep an eye out for a good apartment for you.

What sort of job are you dreaming of?

caitlin! i am in the northside till june 30! we should take advantage of this! (where do you eat ice cream in the north side...)

job- i would like any of the following: anything environmental/outside, bike-related, nonprofit, teaching, working with kids, working anywhere with good people!

what i'm qualified for (but don't nesecarily want to do): information science BS, lots of photography experience, handyman!, if anyone pays to make routes around the city for cyclists i do that a lot?

RE: thick... i've heard mixed reviews on thicks powdercoats... i'm starting a new thread for this

i have yet to do the potato garden run, and i'm slowly getting back into shape after a few nagging injuries. maybe we can organize a group ride of some sort?

i don't have a job to offer, but let me know if you come across anyone who needs a to hire a freelance computer programmer. i already got one gig off of biking people, so maybe there's more to get!

pat had his powdercoating done through Thick. it came out beautifully but was pretty pricey i think.

Thick has my frame now. They don't do it in house and seem to be at the mercy of the powder coat place, who are apparently very backed up at the moment. They've had my frame for a month. It's not cheap, but it's less than chrome plating or painting (unless you do it yourself with spray paint). Thick is very upfront about what can go wrong (especially with leaving some parts chrome). I've got my fingers crossed that this will work, though.

Allegheny Metal Finishing. It is out in Imperial, PA, but they do a great job for a great price. I got my frame media blasted and powdercoated with a color they had in stock for $50; it is about $80 for a color that they order specifically for you.
