Reporting bus drivers

I got passed today on Forbes by the 61b. No way did he start with 4ft and by the time the rear of the bus was even with me it was down to 1ft. Basically it was up to me not to get hit.

Anyways, I have a nice photo of the guy, obviously the route number and the time. Hopefully some GPS data in the EXIF data as well. How do I report this guy?

Pat police 412 255-1350

I'd also make a pgh police report.

It would help to have the number of the bus. There might be six different 61Bs on the road at any given time.

Ideally you want to have:

* Exact time of day

* Exact intersection or nearest address

* Direction of travel

* Route # of bus

* Number of the actual bus (four-digit number)

That will positively identify the driver involved.

The photo has the date, time, GPS data and a pretty clear photo of the driver. Bus 5366 I think.

You can also email Steve Bland (SBland@portauthority.org)

This is a common problem that drivers should be aware of by now but for some reason they keep doing it.

Thank you for doing this Chris. I have almost been crushed by a 61B on Forbes numerous times but I never get any of the info.

If you stop concerning yourself about it now,

you will have more time and the same result.

How much time does it take to send an email?

Have not made a call. Based on past experience that goes no where.

Made two reports. One was rejected for not enough info, the other no response.

FWIW their Twitter account @pghtransit has been on point with the matter.

By law it has to go somewhere. You can request a follow up. Sometimes they'll let you know the action they take. Twitter certainly can't hurt since it's public.

Hate to be cynical but Steevo nailed it here.

They really have zero impetus to do anything about it since the P-A has a sovereign police force that has no accountability.

At the very least, if the driver nails a guy and gets caught (I got sideswiped and I never heard back from anybody, broke my watch!) there might be a record of previous incidents.

I don't blame anyone for being cynical. I'm just conveying what I've been told by the CEO and the Director in charge of training. That by law they have to follow through and investigate every complaint. It's unfortunate that they don't followup with each person who complains. Seems to all of us they could easily build some sort of 3-1-1 system.
