Saddle, Seat Post and Saddle bag nabbed

Someone grabbed my white 2008 Specialized Toupe Saddle while parked at Gateway four Downtown. I know I'll never see it again, but its not the most common saddle in the world, maybe someone will see it on some beater and let me know. it was on a nice Bontrager Seat Post as well.

That's too bad. Nice saddle and post. Keep checking craigslist.

other than craiglist and ebay, where else do you think stolen bikes/parts end up?. do people actually steal with the intention of using it.

Indeed they do. It's likely trading up. Once I had my post and seat taken and had the thief's cheaper and dysfunctional post/seat left in it's place.

Kinda thoughtful, I guess.

Was it a quick-release or a bolt holding it down? If it's the latter, I might actually want to get something to hold down the saddle.

It was a bolt on seatpost.

Dennis, I saw that seatpost yesterday, thats the exact one stolen!

as a side note, I have a friend who is a messenger in Philadelphia; the preferred seatpost/saddle theft deterrent he recommends is to take a ball baring a little bit smaller than the size of the hex recess so it fits inside and seal it in with some auto epoxy, he said it actually comes out pretty cleanly with a hammer and pointy tool.
