So when is the EFT getting paved?

It looks like the construction is finally done, 2 months behind schedule. Does anyone have any idea when they see going to pave it?

Did someone commit to actually repaving it entirely? Or is the awful patchwork considered "repaving?"

There is an "old paved" part of trail that got destrouyed by heavy trucks. :(

I asked some workers who were paving/patching last week if they knew if the trail was going to be repaved and not just patched, but they were as clueless as we are.

That section between HMB & to Birmingham sucks hardcore. I avoid riding that asphalt on the inbound ride. I know I'm not the only one.

The trail markers that were installed in the middle of the trail are circled in spray paint and says to not pave over them. The conditions of that trail have deteriorated a lot, and even after the patch job, the ground is is uneven underneath, and translations still have gaps.

Lots of unfilled cracks too due to the digging and heavy equipment. It's going to be a pothole mess after a couple of seasons if left this way :(

What exactly did they do?

It's my understanding that it needs to warm up a bit before any paving can be done. EFT isn't the only place waiting on pavement.

EFT/Jail Trail isn't the only place waiting on pavement, but if Fifth/Forbes corridor needed to be paved, pretty sure it would be taken care of.

Until then, someone is going to go down because of one section in particular that I can think of with a tire sized gap. I also wonder if they're going to get rid of that bigger stone they put down in order to put some crushed limestone down. It seems like runners will use that. Not sure if that is gentler on their joints or not, but I can imagine that the bigger stones are not ideal. I am tired of being frustrated with what goes on and what is deemed acceptable for cyclists. People use that trail for pleasure, but there are a good number who use it for transportation. I am still not happy that they never posted a safe detour around the trail when it was closed. They would never allow a closure of a major roadway without detours.

"EFT/Jail Trail isn’t the only place waiting on pavement, but if Fifth/Forbes corridor needed to be paved, pretty sure it would be taken care of." Actually, asphalt is a binary thing. Right now it is a 0. there is none. We are waiting for it to be a 1. There is only one plant, if I remember correctly, and we are at the mercy of a private company that decides when to turn it on. it needs to be above a certain temp, I think 40 or 45, for it to pour and set right. This is a very early spring, but the city and county don't have control over the plant. I'm 99% sure that either the city or the county did own a plant at some point but sold it off for $$$ in a cash crunch.
