Well, at least you can get there by 28X. Distance aside, has anyone ever tried cycling to the airport?

I heard there's a plan to connect the airport to the Montour trail...

Pre-9/11 you may have been able to take Rt. 30 to Moon-Clinton Road into the airport, but that's blocked off now (thanks alot, Bin Laden)

There are plans actively in the works to create a spur trail from the Montour Trail to the passenger terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport. As noted above, there are are old roads that traverse the airport owned property surrounding the runways and terminal. These could be opened to bike traffic for the cost of a little fencing and some signage. The big cost (and hurdle) at this point, is getting bicycles safely across the ring road that serves as access to the terminal building. This is a 5-6 lane roadway filled with drivers that have lots of things on their minds, with the possibility of encountering cyclists very low on that list of things calling for their attention. Drivers are typically, searching for their ticket to get out of parking, greeting/catching up with the visitor they just picked up, looking at a map if unfamiliar with the airport, digging for change, powering up their cell phones, oh, and driving. The fact that they have so much going on, and there are so many of them in the limited roadway, means that special signs/lights/pavement parkings are needed for where the cyclists would be entering and/or crossing the roadway. That's the bulk of the cost outstanding for making ths happen. It is very doable, and the proper parties appear to all be on board. Now it is just a money search......at least that is what I have been told.
