Stolen Bike - Sq Hill Apt Building

A matte black custom frame thick bike was stolen from our the basement of our apt building on murray ave. Sometime within the last week or so. Big frame, it will only fit a taller person. A little rip on the seat, and some wear to the handlebar tape too but otherwise a nice and well loved bike. No stickers or distinct markings besides being matte paint. I have pictures but don't know how to post them, I will update and add them if I find out how. It was just repaired before winter, and the money spent on to fix it was a decent sized investment for us. I hope someone took it under the assumption that it was abandoned, and we would be very thankful and understanding if it was returned. Sadly, I doubt that was the case, and now I just hope that someone out here has seen it and can point us towards getting it back. We share the building with only a few other tenants, and the you need a key to access the building so I have a feeling that is was someone visiting one of our neighbors (mostly because it seems really dumb for our neighbors to do it if they ever plan on it leaving their front door). I don't think I can take any other action aside from asking the other tenants if they've taken it- pretty helpless. Please keep an eye out for it, I can be reached at 4128181993 if can help. I know its a long shot, but maybe it could redeem my faith in people and make my boyfriend happy to have his bike back. Please pass on word if you can. Thanks for reading. - char

When you post there's a tiny button above the textbox. If you click on that button it will open a box where you can upload an image or include a link to it.

Observations: Different Spoke count to wheels, down Tube shifters, triple chain ring, red (led?) bar end plugs, toe straps. Have you made a police report? Sometimes they do recover bikes and it helps the larger bike community show that there is a problem with theft. Also, you may want to call some of the areas bike shops that sell used bikes, since they have recovered a few stolen bikes recently (look under the resource tab above). Good luck.

Thank you for checking this out! I've already asked a friend from iron city bikes to help me spread the word and I've read all the craigslist postings of recent that might fit the bill. Since I feel like there is a high possibility of someone in my building either being involved or knowing who took it (I am still hoping it may have been mistakenly thought abandoned), I've left a note on the mailbox asking them to please return it before I am in a position to make a police report. My cheap bike was downstairs too, as well as other items in storage that have remained untouched for over a year. We don't have money to get him another bike like the one that was taken, but the idea that we might live so close to theives is a much sadder thought to us and we just hope it will be put right again.
