Summer Staff Needed for Youth Cycling Program

Looking for part-time work this summer? We are going to start interviewing in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions!

The MGR Foundation is currently hiring Program Assistants, Site Coordinators and Interns who are interested in working with middle-school students in a program called MGR Foundation Youth Cycling: Positive Spin. As part of Pittsburgh Public School’s Summer Dreamers Academy, our program, Positive Spin, will be offered for middle school students every day(Monday-Friday) starting July 11th-August 12th. Positive Spin will be implemented at two Summer Dreamers Academy Sites: Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 and Pittsburgh Allegheny Traditional Academy 6-8.

Positive Spin is an exciting health, wellness, and mentoring program offered by the MGR Foundation for Pittsburgh’s middle-school youth. It has three main components: mentoring; health, nutrition and fitness; and city access. In addition to building bicycles, and riding the city trails, students will also participate in workshops related to: nutrition and health, bicycle safety and advocacy, and alternative forms of exercise. The program will end with a youth bike tour along the Youghiogheny River Trail and overnight camping trip for an exciting culminating event!

The Site Coordinators and Program Assistants will implement programming, facilitate group building activities, maintain bicycles, and lead bicycle rides throughout the city with the assistance of the Program Director and Interns.

Applicants must have experience cycling in the city, basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance, and have previous experience working with youth.
