Trail Condition Update - North Shore to Millvale

I rode in from Millvale today. Trail from Millvale to about Heinz Lofts in less than ideal conditions - temporarily. The new section of trail is almost finished, but it looks like they are putting in some sort of sewer outflow pipe, or bank stabilization at the south end of that new "bridge" and they have heavy machinery operating there. They have to stop the machines to let bikes through, and they are moving a lot of sand, so the trail is a little like pushing through volcanic ash for a few yards. Further in towards town it is alternately sandier than normal, and muddier as normal, as the big waterlines that the construction teams are using leak, and create big puddles. But, the good news is that it looks like they are ALMOST done!

To date they have done an excellent job keeping the temporary trail open and in reasonable shape. This mornings trail condition was an aberration. It looks like it might stay that way until they open the new section.

I overheard a worker say that he thought the new trail would be done in one week.

@Rimerman - I agree that to date, they have done a great job in keeping the trail in good shape. That's why I posted the update. As you say, it will probably stay this way until the new section is open in a week or so. Rain tonight will not improve things.....But, that will make us appreciate that new section all that much more!

Can't wait until "opening day".

To me the bridge "seems" a bit narrow but your pictures, especially the one from above, show otherwise.

Does anyone know if this trail will be paved, either now or eventually, or is the plan to leave it as crushed limestone?
