Trail Riding Article

Here is a nice (beginner friendly) article about getting around on the bike trails. There's a nice plug for OTB at the end.

that was a cool article... bob karlovitz is possibly one of the friendliest guys i've ever met.

i feel like every article in the pg or trib about cycling starts with something about how hard it is and the difficulties of riding in pgh.

this article starts: Pittsburgh sometimes seems like one of the worst bicycling areas in North America.

The streets often are lousy. Routes drop, sometimes plunge, into valleys cut by big rivers and small streams. Shoulders on roads? It's a celebration if you find one.

the parts about routes dropping and plunging into valleys cut by big rivers and small streams...that's why i love riding here, and i think others too.

I love how everyone assumes that because I live in McCandless, that I'm going to take either the hilliest route (Perry Hwy/Perrysville) or the busiest route (McKnight) into town, as if there is no other way possible.

As for the article, the writer could have mentioned various cool things to do IN Millvale, such as shop at Attic Records, or just sit by the tracks and watch a train roll by at a pretty good clip. (That's always been a thrill for me, anyway.)

But whatev, it's actually a pretty good article if you can get past the opening paragraphs.
