Trail Through the Strip District

Does anyone know when the trail through the strip district will reopen? This announcement says Feb 2014 and I couldn't find any more recent info on the forum about it. http://localhost/2013/11/01/trail-alert-strip-district-trail-closure/

Fall is the new projected 'date'. Oh, wait...it's Fall. Maybe any day now? (don't hold your breath though)

Yeah it is a pain. I love that ride down through there. Was down there today on a nice loop before work. I keep hoping they will open it, but it looks bad around there. Maybe next year. :(

Ugggh, this and the Hazelwood trail, it's like thinking your going to get something, going out to a nice dinner and a movie, then in the end finding out you're not going to get that thing, whatever it is. I can't think of a good analogy right now, but something will come to me.

@Bill: that happened to me just the other night, when the popcorn machine at the theater was broken. I was so looking forward to that popcorn.

I have a little information on this! I biked by on Wednesday and happen to catch a foreman having a look around. He said they had done a little work on it that day (something with digging up pipes emptying into the river) and it looked newly paved. Seems like progress! He didn't know when it would open back up though :-/

But isn't it more like you've been looking forward to Indian food a long time, but then somebody gives you Chinese instead? Not what you were expecting, and doesn't satisfy the craving, but, hey, it's dinner.

More like going out for a nice juicy steak in a corner booth at Morton's and getting shunted into a McDonald's greyburger. Sure, you're eating, but is it food?

From friends of the riverfront newsletter: A detour is in place on the Strip District segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail between 11th and 22nd Street. This section of the trail will be closed for underground utility work and has been extended through Spring of 2015. Trail users should use Smallman Street during this time. Cyclists may use the sidewalk on 11th Street.

They only took an extra year on what was supposed to be a 3 month closure.

Calling Smallman Street a detour for the river trail is kinda misleading. They should just be honest: the trail ends at the convention center.
